  20/12/2011: Lotito Ban Upheld
email print
Claudio Lotito has been banned from undertaking his presidential commitments by CONI, the association he is been at war with for a number of months. A tough stance has been taken, in light of Lotito's persistent criticism of the organisation.

The ban was issued quite some time ago but today, it was upheld by Lotito's nemesis Gianni Petrucci. Normally these issues are appealed and appealed until they have virtually no effect but in this case, the original ban will be in force. Lotito vows to fight the ban but in the meantime, Lazio could suffer greatly.

Lotito will be prevented from signing contracts and conducting transfer business which means the President will now have to find an adequate solution. Lotito will also be banned from important meetings and will lose his vote in League meetings, the type of vote that saw Lazio gain millions from this season's TV rights package. He will also be forbidden from renegotiating the rent for the Stadio Olimpico.

In September 2012, the ban will be reviewed.
