  06/01/2012: Emiliano Insua Attracts Lazio
email print
As the winter mercato continues, new names keep being mentioned as potential targets for Lazio. The latest player to seem to be attracting the attention of Tare and Lotito is Emiliano Insua. Currently playing for Sporting Lisbon, one of the opponents of Lazio in the Europa League, Insua was brought in this season from Liverpool, to which the player belonged 2007-2011. The player has failed to impress in Portugal however, with having featured in only nine games so far this season.

At the English giants the previous Boca Juniors player never made the impact that he was hoping to do and he was loaned to Galatasaray last season where he played alongside Lazio player Lorik Cana, but the Turkish giants chose to not use the buyout clause that was included in the loan contract.

The left back is seen as a back up and potential replacement to Stefan Radu, who is expected to be looking at a switch to the central defense would the transfer of Insua happen, as well as giving Edy Reja quality competition on that position as well. €4.5 million is the transfer fee being mentioned in media and Lazio are looking for a six months long loan deal with the option to sign the permanently in the summer.

"The player has failed to impress in Portugal however, with having featured in only nine games so far this season." Did i read that right? You are obviously very bad informed. Emi Insúa failed to impress? The man has been undisputed in is position since Paços de Ferreira victory in which he was a key player. He only stayed out of the starting 11 either by injury (one time only) or option for unimportant games (Like the one with Lazio cuz we already were in the next stage). He his the best LB in the Portuguese League by far with 4 goals cuz of his badass left foot. He's not going anywhere sir. Its been years since we got a LB that freaking good. But you can have is substitute: Evaldo. Maybe he gets one cross right out of ten =D
