25/01/2012: Carrizo is the ignition key for Honda
email print
Juan Pablo Carrizo is now the central figure of Lazio's big money deal for Keisuke Honda of CSKA Moscow.

Due to Honda's non-EU status, the player cannot sign for Lazio until one of the two current non-EU players at Formello either move to another club or have their contracts terminated. Initially, it appeared as though Lazio had offered Stephen Makinwa to CSKA and bizarrely, it appeared as though the Russian club wsa interested. However, it now seems as though Carrizo is the player they desire.

The Russian transfer window opens the day and Sky Sports prematurely announced last night that Lazio had struck a deal for Honda. The media today reports that a deal is close, although a few million may still separate the clubs but more importantly, Lazio's non-EU status needs to be resolved.

Igor Akinfeev, CSKA's star goalkeeper is currently out injured for two months and this is seemingly the reason why Carrizo is now catching CSKA's attention. The latest reports suggest Carrizo's agent is en route to Rome to discuss the Argentine goalkeeper's interest in a move to Moscow. For Lazio, it may be the last chance in sealing a deal for the Japanese starlet.
