In the quarter finals of the Viareggio tournament Lazio played Fiorentina. Fiorentina had as Lazio also won their groups and were as usual one of the favourites to win the tournament.

Alberto Bollini had to do without his three players Berardi, Zampa and Rozzi who travelled to Rome to take part of the first team's match against Atletico Madrid.

Lazio: Scarfagna, Barreto, Cataldi, Cilfone, Emmanuel, Ilari, Marin, Sbraga, Serpieri ('54 Salustri), Vivacqua, Vilkatis (Mosciatti, Andreoli, De Francesco, Dene, Fagioli, Monteforte, Rosario, Filippini, Tira, Mosciatti)


Lazio had the first chance of the match when Marin tested Fiorentina goalkeeper Svedkauskas. In the 17th minute Barreto was fouled and Lazio was awarded a penalty.

The Uruguayan striker took the penalty himself and made it 1-0 for Lazio.

After the Fiorentina created several chances, especially from the Danish striker Zohore.

It looked like Lazio had everything under control but in the 93th minute Fiorentina were awarded a corner. Zohore beat Scarfagna in the air and made it 1-1 in the last second. The match went to over-time.

Fiorentina were the most hungry team in over-time and they took the lead with a penalty. When Lazio were pushing for the winning goal Fiorentina scored again and will now play Roma in the semi finals.
