04/04/2012: Giordano: "Beat Napoli and 90% in the Champions League"

Lazio legend Bruno Giordano knows that finishing third will be difficult but believes Lazio can move closer to it with a win against Napoli.

Giordano played over 200 games for le Aquile, scoring 72 goals. On the upcoming head-to-head clash with Napoli, Giordano said: "I imagine a very balanced match. Both teams are having physical problems. Lazio have the advantage of having 3 more points but I disagree with those who say Lazio could do with a draw. They must win because then Lazio will play in Turin while Napoli have a favourable schedule".

Giordano was sold to Napoli following Lazio relegation in 1985 but Lazio remains firmly in his heart. "I think if Lazio beat Napoli they will be 90% certain of qualification for the Champions League. It will be a crucial match and in the end I hope Lazio win. It will be tough, when Cavani, Lavezzi and Hamsik are in the mood they are impregnable. In my opinion, were it not for the European commitment, Mazzarri's men could win the championship".

Lazio manager Edy Reja is widely expected to leave in the summer and one of the managers linked with replacing him is Napoli's Walter Mazzarri. "They are two managers who base their game on similar philosophies, aggression and counter attack, although they both have different players available to change the characteristics of their play. I think Mazzarri may be suitable in a place like Rome, but it depends on ambitions of Lazio. After coaching Napoli, Mazzarri will be looking for a more ambitious project".
