The Lazio primavera team travelled to Napoli today for the last match of the season, before the play-offs. Lazio have already finished 2nd in the league and are directly qualified for the play-offs. Napoli could with a victory secure the last spot to the play-offs if Catania failed to beat Pescara.
Bollini had some key players out with Berrardi and Rozzi called up for the first team and Zampa playing with the Italy U20 team in Denmark.
The Napoli ultras showed up to support their team and the stadium was packed with fans. In the curva they had big banners showing their support for Mirko Fersini and Piermario Morosini.
LAZIO (4-3-3): Mosciatti; Fagioli, Sbraga, Vilkaitis (5' Marin), Serpieri; Cilfone (12' Monteforte), Cataldi, Salustri (26' De Francesco); Emmanuel, Barreto, Vivacqua
Unused subs: Scarfagna, Crescenzi, De Francesco, Pasquetto, Pedro Rosario
Goals: 8' Emmanuel (L), 15' Fornito, 29' Insigne (N)
Lazio created the first chance of the match when Gonzalo Barreto came on the right side and passed the ball to Emmanuel Sani go gave Lazio the lead.
It was clear that Napoli was the most motivated team in this match and after the goal it was all about Lazio. Napoli scored two times before the break with goals from Fornito and Insigne.
In the second half Alberto Bollini brought on striker Monteforte for midfielder Cilfone to try and equalize, but it was still Napoli that created chances and in the 83th minute they sealed the victory with a goal from Novotny.
Even with a bad result in the last match it has been an amazing season for the Primavera. In 26 matches they obtained 62 points with 93 goals scored and only 17 conceded.
In May the play-offs will start and Lazio will be hoping to play at home in Rome.
LazioLand Player Ratings:
Mosciatti: 5 Fagioli: 5 Sbraga 5.5 Vilkaitis: N/A Serpieri: 5.5 Cilfone: 5.5 Cataldi: 6 Salustri: 5.5 Emmanuel: 6 Barreto: 6 Vivaqua: 5.5
Subs: Marin: 5.5 Monteforte: 5 De Francesco: 5
Man of the match: Gonzalo Barreto
Tried his best in the attack, but had little support and was often on his own. Great work to set up Emmanuel Sani on Lazio's goal.
Flop of the match: Riccardo Serpieri
Struggled to cope with Insigne from Napoli who was the best player on the pitch.
Honourable mention: Emmanuel Sani
The Nigerian has been a starter for the team since Ceccarelli left on loan and has shown good scoring form lately. Will be important for the team when the play-offs start.
