  07/05/2012: Scaloni laments Lazio's losses

In a post-match interview with the media, Lionel Scaloni sang the praises of his teammates but admitted that more could have been done in previous weeks:

"We had a great game, we were great as a team and were determined. I think if you look at the defense that played today, we had not played together before and more than that, Garrido played with an injury. It hasn't been an easy season but we are up there, we have great players and experience. Now we realise we have gave away points at the season end."

"There is still bitterness, had we played with more determination, we would be in the Champions League already. Against Lecce, we did everything needed to win and it went wrong in the end. Against Siena, we had twenty shots on goal and with Udinese, nothing went wrong and we still lost the game. If we drew that game, things would be very different. Unfortunately, we are behind but we have hope for the final day. We are still in Europe."

"We can do nothing but win now and hope Catania give us a hand. It will be tough, but you saw Catania against Roma yesterday playing a great game. We can only win and hope."

Scaloni is out of contract in the summer and had previously said a return to Argentina was on the cards. That has since changed:

"I do not know what I am doing next season but I will not return to Argentina. It is the end of the season now and so I have to think about my future. Lazio have made no offer, but we will see what happens."

Would be poor management if we let this guy go at the end of the season. A fine utility man that proved that he can play wing, right back, left back, and now central D as well. Not to mention he genuinely cares about his shirt. Daje Leo
