17/05/2012: Edoardo Reja set to leave Lazio
email print
Today Italian media have communicated the decision of Lazio coach Edoardo Reja to not extend his contract with Lazio and to move away from his 22nd club as coach.

Yet no official statement has been published by the club, where President Claudio Lotito supposedly have proposed at least one more year for the Gorizian at the helm of the Roman club. The 66-year old has stated he is back in his home and that the decision of leaving Rome should therefore be clear to everyone.

Edoardo Reja has criticized the Rome based media, which never seem to be happy and satisfied with the results of the team and that put the coach and team under heavy pressure, and their lack of acknowledging the achievements carried out during the last two seasons.

Possible replacements have already been discussed for some time as the contract of Reja was originally due at the end after this season and today the discussions have became more intense. Previous Inter and Genoa coach Gasperini, current Chelsea manager Di Matteo as well as Zola together with Casiraghi have all appeared more and more frequently in discussions today. Earlier linked Stefano Pioli has denied being on his way to Lazio though, and is set to extend his contract with Bologna.
