16/06/2012: Foggia also returns, Petkovic urges sales
email print

When Petkovic arrived in Rome he was clear, "My ideal squad is to be composed of 23-24 players, plus 4 or 5 young people who could gain experience and perhaps steal the place of someone else." The Bosnian wishes to keep the squad at a minimum which means finding new homes for many 'redundant' players.

Crescenzi and Zampa are likley to be called up for the training camp with some other youngsters and with Lazio looking likely to keep Candreva plus sign 4-5 planned new signings, there are alot of players who will have to make way.

One of these players would definately be Pasquale Foggia. The Neopolitan spent last season with Sampdoria but the Genovese have not taken their right of redemption and Foggia finds himself back in Rome. Similarly Giuseppe Sculli was expected to stay in the port city but is also back at Lazio. Then there are the youngsters Ceccarelli, Cavanda, Di Mario, Ricci and Adeleke. Either another move or perhaps Petkovic will give some of them a chance in Auronzo.

Then there are Carrizo and Stendardo. Carrizo would ideally be sold to free up a non-EU space with Bologna looking a possibility as a replacement for Gillet. Stendardo will most certainly be shipped off following another breakdown with the club.

Finally the strikers Zarate and Floccari. Zarate, following his disappointing spell at Inter, has claimed he is willing to try again at Lazio following the change of coach. However a good offer from Malaga or Aston Villa would likely see the Argentine leave. Floccari on the other hand is being chased by Atalanta and could be used as bait for Lotito to lure Peluso to Formello.

Whatever happens, Lotito and Tare certainly have their work cut out this summer to make their new coach happy.
