  25/06/2012: Ledesma: "We must improve"

In an interview broadcast on LazioStyle Radio, Cristian Ledesma has acknowledged Lazio's shortcomings in the last two seasons and has set the primary goal for next season - a place in The Champions League.

"The affection of the people of Lazio is in my heart - it is beautiful."

"We had a good season but now we must recharge the batteries and try to make ourselves protagonists in what I consider be the most difficult league in the world. Our goal is to make Europe - a societa' like Lazio deserves a stage like that. After two years of Europa League, we aim for Champions League. These are just words though and we must do it on the field."

"I have not met Perkovic yet but we will give our all and make ourselves available for the project."

Speaking about himself, Ledesma noted that he himself must improve:

"I always try to improve. I am not afraid of losing my starting spot as I always think about the team as a group. Competition for places have never been an issue. Lazio is a major company with a history of great players. The market is open to surprises like Lulic as well as big players, I can only be happy with new arrivals."

"Playing is always a pleasure. It is the best job in the world."

Ledesma joked about pre-season training and said that those who turn up overweight will be the butt of jokes:

"The first thing I will do is look at the weighing scales - I hope to be one pound, or at most, two pounds overweight."

Asked about his fondest memory in a Lazio shirt, Ledesma was obvious withhis choice:

The 3-0 derby - I scored a good goal... what a thrill."
