03/07/2012: Ederson chose Lazio over Inter

Antonio Caliendo has told TMW that Inter Milan were the most 'fierce competitor' for the signature of Ederson having made a late bid to secure the services of Brazilian midfielder. It had long been believed that it was AC Milan who sought after Ederson but Caliendo has stated that it makes no difference as Ederson was persuaded by Lotito:

"Lazio were really very good. Lotito was convincing and in addition to that, he has been watching Ederson for over five years, ever since his Nice debut where he scored a goal within five minutes, from the distance of 45 metres."

Lotito is known for being a keen fan of South American players. It is said that his interest in Mauro Zarate stemmed from watching videos of the Argentine while Matuzalem had been on Lotito's shortlist long before he was signed from Real Zaragoza in 2008.
