23/03/2011: Dinamo Kiev and Olympiakos eyeing summer swoop for Edy Reja

As the season draws to a close, inevitably, contract disputes will become a hot topic yet again. However, SS Lazio will face an unusual predicament this summer in that much of the speculation is likely to surround our coach.

Edy Reja has been such a success in Rome that many have forgotten that he only has three months left on his original 18-month deal.

Following on from the Cesena game, the Gorizian tactician was hesitant to discuss his future and indicated that he has been aroung long enough to know that you can take nothing for granted in calcio.

Subsequently, rumours are rife that there are many clubs looking to snare Edy from Lotito's grasp. Dinamo Kiev and Olympiakos have been pinpointed today as the frontrunners.

Despite enduring an excellent Europa League campaign most recently resulting in the elimination of big-spending Manchester City, there is speculation that the Ukrainian giants will be looking to make a change or two in the summer. Under the guidance of ex-Inter manager Mircea Lucescu, Champions League quarter-finalists Shaktar Donetsk have opened an almost unassailable gap at the top of the Ukrainian Premier League leaving Dinamo to consider other options.

Olympiakos could also be on the lookout for Edy Reja if Ernesto Valverde fails to renew his contract. With three rounds to play in Greece, Olympiakos are already champions and have secured participation in next season's Champions League.

It would take huge courage for Zio Edy to make the leap eastwards, especially in light of his shortcomings in Croatia. However, the lure of Champions League football is significant for any manager and if Edy does not reach those dizzy heights with Lazio, will he turn down the opportunity if the giants of Europe come knocking?
