Corriere dello Sport concentrates on the latest twists and turns in the deal for Genoa's defender Granqvist, which includes the loan of Juan Pablo Carrizo. An agreement of a loan with right of redemption for 4.5 million was found with Genoa for Granqvist but there have been complications and for once, it is not the fault of Lazio. Lotito has offered 1.2 million plus bonuses to the Swedish defender while the Swede's agent has asked for 1.4 million. Despite the small difference, agent Martin Dahlin departed for Sweden thinking all was fine but that is far from the case. Genoa have yet to pay Groningen the 2.2 million transfer fee for Granqvist and that is holding up the deal. Granqvist himself is desparate to move but there is a sideplot emerging and that is that Luigi De Canio has requested that the centre-back remains in Genoa having previously agreed to his sale. It is thought that De Canio is unhappy about the lack of input he has had with this deal and is using the situation to make a statement to Preziosi. On Monday, Carrizo's agent will arrive in Italy to discuss his client's proposed end of the bargain.
Both Gazzetta dello Sport and La Repubblica revel in Lazio's misfortune with similar reports on Granqvist. Il Tempo claim that it is Beppe Sculli that is blocking the deal while Corriere della Sera say that is Gigi De Canio. Tuttosport believe that Lazio could turn back to Xandao.
The news centres almost wholly on Granqvist today but there is a more pressing matter - Lazio's opponents in the last qualification round for the Europa League. Both Lazio and Inter will learn their fate at 13.30 CET today. Before the draw commences, the teams will be put into pots which will narrow down Lazio's potential opponents. Lazio are seeded for the draw and Corriere dello Sport have picked out Anzhi Makhachkala as the greatest threats in the unseeded half of the draw.
