Following the draw with Torino, without Ledesma or Hernanes, it has left Lazio with a need for depth in midfield. Lazio struggled and were at times overrun while they struggled to create chances as well.

A possible transfer target could be in the form of another Albanian, Granit Xhaka from Borussia Munchengladbach. The player could fit Petkovic's style of play and he has admitted that he follows Lazio closely, as reported in Time:

"The biancoceleste are a great team with a great coach. My friends Tare and Cana are there and I am frequently in contact with both of them. I could quit the Bundesliga as soon as Januray and if a tempting offer came in I could not refuse..."
