  30/01/2013: Gonzalez: "I Want Roma"

Speaking to the media shortly after he helped secure Lazio's passage into the Coppa Italia final, Alvaro Gonzalez was buoyant about his contribution to the game:

"Today, in an important game, it was the goal that turned the game for us. It was a tough match, but we knew it would be. They have good players and they were played well, but I think we deserved to go through."

Gonzalez quickly turned his attention back to the Serie A campaign:

"The final is far away so we have to put our heads straight down on the league, because we want to qualify for the Champions League."

In celebrating the goal, Gonzalez went to the bench to lift aloft the shirt with Lionel Scaloni's name and number on it. Scaloni left for Atalanta but he was a  big player in the dressing room and Gonzalez dedicated his goal to him:

"Scaloni came to Italy to play for us, so I decided to pay homage to his shirt."

Gonzalez hopes the victory will deliver a psychological blow to Juventus:

"Today was an important match for the Championship also. we must give up nothing and if we want to aim high, we must aim to undermine those above us in the table. This is the correct attitude."

Finally, Gonzalez thanked the fans for their presence:

"The full stadium pumped us up so much and the visiting teams suffer from it. I hope we can count on it."

"I want Roma [in the final]. Winning the derby for the cup would be a wonderful, unforgettable experience for our fans."
