  07/02/2013: Official: Saha Deal On!
email print

Yesterday evening, Louis Saha was presented to the media as a Lazio player with Vladimir Petkovic, Claudio Lotito and Igli Tare in attendance, along with the media of course.

34-year old Saha, who has 147 Premier League goals in 421 appearances, has signed a 6-month deal and made it clear at his unveiling that he has been drafted in for the injured Miroslav Klose, who is set to miss the majority of what remains of the 2012-13 season.

Vladimir Petkovic made it clear though that he valued Saha very highly and was satisfied with the deal, suggesting that Saha will have a role to play even when Klose does return - perhaps as his strike partner.

Saha praised the Lazio squad's unity and expressed his desire to play a role in the Napoli game this weekend.

There was speculation yesterday afternoon that the deal might be cancelled as Saha was ineligible to play in Serie A, but it appears as though Lazio received FIFA's approval to strike the deal before Saha boraded his flight for Rome.
