03/04/2011: Edy Reja: Post Match Comments
email print
In his post match interview, Edy Reja spoke about the game:

"Today was an important match with respect to the qualification for the Champions League, unfortunately, things are more difficult now. However, if the team continues with the same spirit until the end of the season, there will still be hope." Reja said to the microphones of Sky.

Lazio indeed were very good technically, defended well and focused on the counter attacks but sadly, the team could not keep up for the whole 90 minutes. There are incidents in which a small lack of concentration could cost you the game and that is what happened.

"It is very difficult to come to Naples and score three goals and end up losing the game. But the incidents that occured, the disallowed goal of Brocchi which has clearly passed the line from where I was at the bench, even the lines man signaled for a goal then changed his mind. But this is not to say that Napoli did not play well, they did fight to the end and this was something I was worried about. Even the penalty was very generous" Reja explained.

When questioned about his selection and the ommission of Hernanes, Reja explained: "Hernanes is going through a difficult moment physically, he has been playing a lot and has not had the needed rest. Today was a very high paced game and this is why we decided to rest him."

Asked about the reception and the farewell he received from the San Paolo fans Reja answered: "I have to thank the fans, the friends, and the journalists for their support, they gave me a great welcome. I have to thank them on the human level as they appreciate me as a person."

Reja then added that he carries a lots of positives from the performance of the team: "I must thank the guys, they played with heart and tried to win the game, now we must look ahead, learn from our mistakes especially in the defense, and build on the positives we found. Congratulations to the team for a good performance."
