19/07/2013: Auronzo di Cadore: Day 8
email print
Another 10am start and Petkovic put the boys through their usual obstacle course workout to warm up. However, things got a little tricky not long after. In a bid to improve reactions, weights were attached their players and their movement was tested. This lasted for 10-15 minutes before Petkovic enforced possession exercises with the ball. During the exercise, Milos Antic suffered a right ankle injury and was immediately withdrawn from the field.

Petkovic proceeded to test some tactical modules, beginning with a 3-4-3 and a ine-up consisting of Dias, Novaretti, Ciani, Konko, Mauri, Rozzi, Vinicius, Ederson, Kozak and Tounkara. He frequently changed system and personnel. Not much can be read into Petkovic's tactical work as the squad is simply too significant in size to do things properly. At one stage, Petkovic was forced to play 12 men and 4-5-2 just to get everyone on the field. The morning session concluded at around 11.30 for the main group. Eddy Onazi - who is on a separate regime following his injury - concluded his workout at 11.45.

The evening session commenced at 5pm and Milos Antic returned to the field having been assessed and giving the ok. Albano Bizzarri on the other hand has a small injury concern and is training independently. Petkovic divides the team into groups and carries out various exercises, including exercises which test reactions and movement. The session concludes with laps around the training field as Petkovic seeks to improve stamina levels.
