21/07/2013: Lotito: "We are not done on the market"
email print
Claudio Lotito has told the media today that Lazio will continue to work on the market:

"The intention is to further enhance this squad - we will see where it needs to be pruned. We have a big squad, including Elez who has yet to arrive, but we have certain considerations in mind and will set out to achieve the objectives we set ourselves."

"Making assessments? It is too early to make assessments as we are missing important players like Marchetti, Candreva and Hernanes. We are not done on the market - so far, we have purchased seven players."

Lotito went on to express his displeasure at the lack of subscriptions for season tickets, stating that the enthusiasm within Lazio is not matched by the passion of the fans. When asked about the worst thing he had done as Lazio president, Lotito said taking on the responsibility of Lazio in the first place, as football is an ungrateful discipline. He did, however, stress that Lazio were very credible and were respected.

Declining to make a pre-season prediction, Lotito claimed that Lazio were complete and had 22 great players which put them on a par with any other side. He also informed the media that La Lazio Siamo Noi's claims that Napoli are making a 10 million bid for half of Antonio Candreva is entirely untrue:

"Napoli have never asked for Candreva, and if they called, I would not sell. For now, we buy without selling."

Asked about the future of Cavanda and Zarate, the president was unrepentant:

"I hope the mountain air will be good for him [Cavanda] and that he can reason with us better."

"We wait until tomorrow when the arbitration will reveal their outcome [on the legal case with Zarate]. Let's see what will happen."
