La Gazzetta dello Sport described the win over Nice as 'good and convincing'. Lazio overcame the side that finished 4th in Ligue 1 last season thanks to a goal from Klose. The fitness levels looked good for Petkovic's men considering they were playing opposition who will start their season in only 10 days.

Petkovic started with 4-2-3-1 which he used until midway through the second half which saw Hernanes, Candreva and Gonzalez make their summer debuts. Marchetti was given the start and continued his form from last season with some fine saves.

Ederson, who has been almost ever present this summer told the media:

"We are pleased, we had a good game. It was a good test against a lot of young players full of running but we used our experience. We did well considering we played yesterday too. I spent some wonderful times here (Nice), the fans still welcome me, it was a pleasure to return."

Ederson has been given a new position, as well as the number 10 shirt, sitting just behind Klose as a second striker. Ederson commented:

"I am comfortable in this position, behind Miro. I gave him a hand in attack and when we lost the ball helped the defence. I feel good, we have a great squad, there is alot of quality. We not only have qualities on the pitch but off it. We are a good group and we can go far."
