  03/09/2013: Tare has market regrets
email print
Igli Tare has sought to clarify Lazio's mercato strategy in the wake of fresh criticism having failed to land Galatasaray's Burak Yilmaz on the final day:

"We followed Yilmaz with great intent. I regret that things went like last year. What happened yesterday is very serious and has nothing to do with football; a player should decide his own fate and not have it decided by an agent who has his own requests from outside the game. We did not lose him over 1 million euro and I will not justify that argument. Anyway, I do not think we will chase Yilmaz again as he does not deserve to be followed after what happened yesterday."

"Matavz? Bergessio? We never tried. Quagliarella was plan B, blocked by Roma as they would not release Borriello to Genoa and then in the last few hours, Conte vetoed the deal altogether. We already had an agreement with Juventus."

"Our squad needs clarity, so I am sorry to see hasty judgements on our new players already. After Saturday's game, the player's were ashamed of themselves but it is only one game. Remember Lulic's debut in Milan? Things were said about him, and now fans idolise him. Six months down the line, you can judge these players but Novaretti and Biglia do not need to be defended as they are so experienced."

"Kozak wanted to be sent away, he felt his time with Lazio was over. Long negotiations and finally, our economic demands were satisfied. I thank him for what he has done for us, he is genuinely one of the most humble guys I know."

Tare confirmed that Sculli will be reintegrated pending that the conditions of their agreement are kept in the next two weeks and the DS also clarified that Rozzi's buyout clause is 18 million and set as such so that Real Madrid will not purchase him outright at the end of the season.
