  04/09/2013: Lazio announce 2013/14 Europa League squad
email print
S.S. Lazio have announced their squad for the 2013/14 Europa League group stage and Andre Dias has failed to make the cut. Each Europa League squad must consist of 25 players and contain four players who have trained at the club for a total of three years between the ages of 15 and 21, and a further four players who were trained in the home nation. Lazio's four homegrown players are Guido Guerrieri, Riccardo Serpieri, Luca Crecco and Eddy Onazi.

The lack of homegrown players and the size of S.S. Lazio's first team squad forced the club into dropping a number of players that would normally feature in Serie A and the most high-profile of the casualties is Andre Dias. Dias had started the season as a fixture in the first team, but errors saw him lose his place to Diego Novaretti and Lorik Cana and the killer blow for Dias is the return of Michael Ciani, who is thought to have missed action in recent weeks as he was negotiating a transfer to Celtic which ultimately failed to materialise.

The full squad list is as follows;

Goalkeepers: Federico Marchetti, Etrit Berisha, Guido Guerrieri;

Defenders: Giuseppe Biava, Stefan Radu, Abdoulay Konko, Lorik Cana, Diego Novaretti, Luis Pedro Cavanda, Michael Ciani, Riccardo Serpieri;

Midfielders: Cristian Daniel Ledesma, Lucas Biglia, Ogenyi Eddy Onazi, Ederson Honorato Campos, Antonio Candreva, Felipe Anderson, Anderson Hernanes de Carvalho Viana Lima, Alvaro Gonzalez, Senad Lulic, Luca Crecco;

Attackers: Miroslav Klose, Sergio Floccari, Brayan Perea, Keita Balde Diao.
