06/11/2013: Petkovic: "Genoa defeat will wake up Lazio"
email print
Vladimir Petkovic's job hangs by a thread following another defeat and lacklustre performance against Genoa on Sunday. The Bosnian is hoping to see a positive response from the players against Apollon Limassol tomorrow evening.

"We must use the defeat in a positive manner but also as an alarm clock, a cold shower to wake everyone up. We aren't missing much to get what we want but this is not decisive. You have to give more and we did but in many circumstances it didn't pay off. In recent weeks we have played good matches, played well and created a lot, but at times, luck and other things have prevented us from achieving the result."

"Europa League? It doesn't matter who is missing, the important thing is who is there. The best eleven right now will enter the field. I have full confidence in them. I want them to give everything and have 18 warriors. It's an important moment and with sacrifices we have to find solutions to win these matches. Tomorrow we want to bring home the 3 points and have a fresh start in the league."

Next to Petkovic at the press conference was Federico Marchetti who added:

"The team has all the qualities to get out the dark period. In difficult times we need to mature and I'm convinced we will come out. We are living a unique moment after two positive results where we could have achieved more. The defeat against Genoa was a miss-hap, even though we didn't deserve to lose. We looked at each other after the game and we understand that clearly what we have done so far is not enough."
