The very important 2-0 win over Sampdoria keeps Lazio very much in the hunt for European competition next season. The distance between the Biancocelesti and the fifth place spot (which Inter Milan and Hellas Verona currently occupy) is now cut down to two points with six rounds to go.

French full back Abdoulay Konko spoke to Lazio Style Radio after the victory;

”We have taken some very important points in this game and I believe we can achieve the goal of Europa League qualification. It will not be easy and we expect difficult matches, starting with the one away at Napoli”.

“Against Sampdoria we found a good rhythm and the right spirit for the game. They are not an easy team to deal with. We had to keep focused right from the beginning till the end. Defensively we played a great game against some experienced players, but it was difficult at times as we were down to ten. But we showed character by remaining solid and scoring a second goal”, stated Konko.

“We have trust amongst each other and the younger players like Keita are being integrated well. The group is growing and we have to continue like this”, stated the Frenchman.

The full back then spoke about the remaining fixtures;

”We cannot look at the other teams results, we just have to do well in our games and take our chances. What matters is winning every single game left of this season in order to give ourselves the best chance possible to qualify”.
