15/04/2014: Tare blames Banti for Napoli defeat
email print
Igli Tare has spoken out on Luca Banti's refereeing performance in the weekend game between Napoli and Lazio, and has indicated his belief that the referees are against the Roman club:

"On the day after the defeat to Napoli, the regret is more intense than usual. We did not deserve to lose; Higuain is offside in the penalty action, Mertens looks for contact from Cana, Cavanda's cross hit Mesto's arm - I saw it several times and there is no doubt about it."

"We feel bad because of Banti, and we were unlucky. We did not say anything when he was appointed, but it is not normal to have him officiate four Napoli-Lazio encounters in the last three years and for Lazio to always emerge as the losers."

"There's been a lot of matches now where referees are against us. Against Atalanta, there was a penalty [which was not given] on Keita and a disallowed goal on Gonzalez. 10 days later, they send us the same referee who does not punish a trip on Mauri. It has been years since I have seen such a clear penalty."

"We never complained, but we deserve respect and ask that we receive it. In an uncertain sprint for Europa League, these errors have cost us points. We are -3 to Parma... you do the maths."
