16/05/2014: Gonzalez: "We wanted Champions League"
email print
Lazio midfielder Alvaro Gonzalez reflects on what has been a disappointing season and looks to the future.

"This season definitely didn't go as expected. Our goal was a spot in Europe, perhaps even the Champions League, but we are so far away for many reasons. We had some good games but we lacked continuity, even more so than previous seasons. We have to find it for next year as we have a good chance because we will only play in Serie A without the Europa League. There will be more time to prepare for the match on Sunday and to get more points than this year."

Gonzalez had words for former Lazio striker Ruben Sosa, an idol of his, who he met up with during the week.

"He was a great footballer, part of that unforgettable Lazio. He did great things with his left foot and he was my idol as a boy. It is always nice for me to see him as it was for the Lazio fans to see him back on the field."
