  27/07/2014: Auronzo di Cadore: Day 16
email print
Day 16 saw Lazio take on Asiago - a regional team - and Serie B's Perugia in the morning and evening respectively. Stefano Pioli had spent the penultimate day of training at Auronzo di Cadore preparing two teams for the friendlies. The second-string side took on Asiago in the morning while Lazio's best eleven tackled Perugia in the evening.

The reserve team if you like were quite impressive against Asiago in the morning, putting 10 goals in the opposition net. Four of them came courtesy of Tounkara, while Pereirinha bagged himself a hat-trick, Oikonomidis a brace and Minala also got one for himself. The win should've been comfortable, but given that many of the Lazio team were youngsters who were amateur footballers themselves not long ago, the margin of victory on a tricky playing surface gives Pioli plenty to think about as Lazio return to Rome.

The Perugia tie was also an easy affair with Ledesma, Novaretti and Felipe Anderson finding the net in a 3-0 win. Lazio looked to be more of a well-oiled machine than they did against Bari, who are comparable to Perugia in terms of quality. Pioli's methods appear to be working at this very early stage.

The teams for these games were as follows;

v Asiago (4-3-3): Strakosha; Konko, Ciani, Filippini, Vinicius; Minala, Elez, Antic; Pereirinha, Tounkara, Oikonomidis

v Perugia (4-3-3): Marchetti; Basta, Novaretti, Cana, Radu; Cataldi, Ledesma, Braafheid; Felipe Anderson, Mauri, Keita
