12/08/2014: Vinicius nears Serie B return
email print
Vinicius Freitas looks set to embark on another journey for a Serie B side as Sky Italia claim the soon-to-be Brazil U21 international is about to head to Perugia on loan.

Vinicius spent the latter half of last season on loan at Padova in Serie B having struggled with injury on arrival at Lazio. The left-back found it difficult to break into a Padova side which also featured ex-Lazio forward Tommaso Rocchi, but began to make his mark at the business end of the season and even got on the scoresheet in a game against Pescara.

Vinicus has done well in pre-season and has caught the eye of many Serie B clubs as well as Brazil U20 manager Alexandre Gallo who has called him up to his U21 squad for a series of friendlies in the near future.

Bari were said to be leading the race for his signature but it appears Perugia may be the eventual destination. It is likely Vinicius will receive more playing time at the Umbrian side and this may be of importance to his parent club.
