A few hours before the important qualification game between Nigeria and Congo Eddy Onazi spoke to Sportsday but this time about Lazio and not about his national team.

What can you say about the pre-season preparations?

"The team is well prepared. We played a lot of friendlies during the summer break. I’m glad I took part in some of the games and managed to score four goals."

Which was your best goal?

"The last one but I can’t remember who we played against but they gave us a hard time."

What are Lazio’s objectives for the season?

"I hope that the team can do better than last season. Actually, I hope that this is the best season in my career as a Lazio player. I will give everything I can do help the club."

There were a lot of rumours about your future in the summer. Anything new?

"Nothing new, the transfer window is closed now and I’m a Lazio player. Maybe we can discuss this when the transfer window opens again in January. I can assure you that I’m not thinking about a possible transfer."

How does it feel to be back on the field for Nigeria?

"I’m happy to be back and ready to play for the Super Eagles. We are like a big family. After the world cup all of us went to their clubs. Now we are together again."

The last time you played for Nigeria was against France when you got injured…

"This is another reason to be happy to be back on the field for Nigeria with all my team mates and coaches. Fortunately, my recovery was fast. I have no more pain and I can get back to doing what I love most."

What is your prediction for the game against Congo?

"We are all determined for a victory. Only God can crown our efforts with glory. Belief is what will help us. By the grace of God, we will win."
