15/10/2014: Brocchi: "I hope to train Lazio one day"
email print
"They are two very similar teams with two good coaches who know how to work with the players they have and know where they want to go. For me, both teams can fight for a place in the Champions League. Juve and Roma have a little more but just behind are Napoli, Fiorentina, Lazio and Milan to play for third place."

"My former teammates don't lack anything. I still see the Genoa - Lazio game as something beautiful. If you maintain a system of playing you can go very far and Pioli has done well from this point of view. He is pushing a certain mentality. Parolo was a great signing, as was Djordjevic. It's a shame about Gentiletti, you can see he is a great leader and player, but there are still good defenders there. There is Radu that I know well and he can play centrally. For me, this Lazio is built well although it still needs to improve on the field but the path it is on is perfect."

Brocchi was asked on his opinion on the situation of Keita who has seen less time on the pitch since Pioli arrived:

"Keita? Nonsense. He is a golden boy with extraordinary talent, he will be great but he must cement his place during training through the week, nobody will give it to you. Matuzalem? I have not crossed his path but I don't have anger nor resentment, I respect him a lot. There were rumours circulated that the foul was linked to a disagreement in the past, but it is not true. I had some problems with him a year and a half ago due to a friend who went around saying that I pressured Reja not to play him however he realised it was a joke and it was clarified."

Brocchi then commented on a resurgent Mauri who has started the season well:

"He is like this every year. Stefano has quality and charisma. Unfortunately in Rome, more than anywhere, there is the bad habit of befriending some journalist who, in a systematic way, creates stories from nothing."

Brocchi has gone back to Milan to be near his family and coach one of the youth teams, when asked about his future, Brocchi replied:

"I have to grow but I am ambitious and my desire is to train Lazio one day."
