30/12/2014: Klose is in the top 100 players of 2014

Before the end of the 2014 French newspaper L'Equipe made an interesting ranking of the top 100 football players of the year. Among those 100 we can see Lazio's striker Miroslav Klose who is at 51st position.

He earned his place among the top players of the year mainly because of the great summer he had with Germany where he not only passed Ronaldo's record of goals in world cups but also managed to win the tournament.

This is what L'Equipe had to say about Klose:
"The German striker made history after winning the World Cup and also passing the Brazilian Ronaldo with a new goalscoring record (16)."

The number one stop was occupied by German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer who is also nominated for the Golden Ball. He is ahead of players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi, Robben and Lahm. The other players who made the top 10 were Di Maria, Neymar, Muller, Suarez and Ibrahimovic.

However players like Biglia and De Vrij were missing in the top 100. They had a great summer with their national teams and probably deserved to be there. The top players of Italy who entered the ranking were Pirlo (34th), Verratti (47th), Buffon (69th) and De Rossi (73rd). The best foreign player from Serie A is Pogba who took 19th place while his Juventus team mate Vidal ended up 36th. Players like Cavani and Tevez were also missing from the top 100.
