 Born today, 41 years ago in Buenos Aires, capital which breaths football day in day out.
Simeone started his career at Velez Sarsfield in 1987.
After 3 seasons he crossed the ocean to join Pisa, then in the Serie A. But Pisa dropped out of the Serie A, and Simeone played one more season at Pisa in the Serie B.
Then Spain was his next step, 2 seasons at Sevilla, and in 1994 a transfer to Atletico Madrid. There 'el Cholo' Simeone became the heart of the team, winning a historic double with Atletico, Champions and Copa Del Rey in 1996.
But three seasons later, the Serie A called again, Simeone joined Inter Milan, only winning one Uefa Cup, by beating Lazio in Paris. But in 1999 he joined Lazio, under Sven-Goran Eriksson. And in his first season at Lazio, he became again the heart of the team, always battling for every ball.
Simeone just scored 5 goals that season, but 1 goal will always be reminded by every Laziale. We write April 2nd 2000, Juventus v Lazio. The Bianco-neri are 6 points clear on the top, Lazio is trailing on the 2nd spot. The game is close and tight, till the 66th minute, cross Veron, Simeone heads the ball in the corner, 0-1 Lazio, the only goal of the game.

Lazio close the gap on Juventus, to win eventually the Scudetto 2000 in the most incredible way. Simeone completes a historic treble, by also winning the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa that season.
After 4 seaons Lazio, Simeone went back to Atletico Madrid, and in 2004 back to Argentina to join Racing Club.
After his playing career, Simeone became manager, coaching teams like Racing Avellaneda, Estudiantes, River Plate and San Lorenzo in Argentina.
Now he's back in the Serie A, coaching Catania, hoping to avoid the drop into Serie B.
El Cholo already admits, that one day he wants to coach his beloved Lazio, where he personally still says he had his best 4 years of his footballing life.
