Today, 37 years ago, Lazio claimed her first Scudetto in the club's history.

Few know that Lazio was promoted from Serie B to A, two seasons before, under coach Maestrelli.

Even the season 1972-1973, Lazio was close on gaining the Scudetto, but a last minute goal by Napoli, broke that dream, handing over the Scudetto to Juventus.

But in the 1973-1974 season, Lazio was unstoppable after the winterbreak.
And in mid-February only Juventus could follow, but Lazio beat Juve then with 3-1, making the gap bigger and dreaming for a new chance to grab the Scudetto.

So they had to wait till May, the 12th, and a victory over struggling Foggia would claim the Championship.

But a nervous Lazio went scoreless into the break.
But in the 60th minute, foul on Garlaschelli and Chinaglia slotted the bal into the net, 1-0 for Lazio.

Still 30 minutes to go.
The stress was mounting, even more after Garlaschelli was sent off.

But the Lazio defense stood firm, and the 80.000 in the Olimpico waited for the final whistle to flood the pitch.
