07/06/2011: Hernanes interview: "Lazio will be great"
email print
Hernanes took the time to be interviewed by while enjoying his holiday in Brazil with his family.

Why so many goals in Serie A?
"I'm playing in midfield. I make alot of space for more opportunities to make goals and assists to teammates".

You and Zarate were the biggest investment of Lazio in recent years. Has this led you to have more responsibility?
"Yes, because it means I have to give even more on the field. It is not automatic to get better results just by investing more. The fact is that we must engage. It is natural that the midfielder and striker are those who look to make a difference as they play upfront. That's why teams are willing to pay more for them".

Lazio's scoring this season has been a way to repay the investment?
The result was good this year, also the performance of the team. The group is convinced that we can do even better next year. I am very happy to have scored 12 goals, it's the beginning of the fruits that Lazio is collecting".

You have not needed much time to adapt to Europe. What is your secret?
Once I arrived I learned the language and culture as quickly as possible. Surely this is a success for all those who welcomed me so positively. Two things that worried me were the atmosphere and the food. Rice, beans and flour could not fail. Italian food is very good, I don't know about the other players but I have no complaints".

Do you not think of returning to Brazil at the moment?
"It's too soon, I want a career abroad and to win some titles. I am very happy in Rome and every year I want to grow and improve in Italy".

You fought to the end for the Champions League but never reached it. Was that frustrating?
"It's clear it would have been better to play in the Champions League but I'm not complaining. I'm happy and so is the group. The team are happy as they earned 20 more points than last year. This was important as it was a big jump. We have grown and we can do better next season. Now we just have to celebrate".

Have Lazio appraoched Jean?
"I don't know but if he landed in Rome I would be very happy to have him as a teammate".
