  28/06/2011: Lotito confirms Cassani meeting
email print
Lotito has spoken to Corriere dello Sport today and briefly outlined his thoughts on recent events, beginning with transfer speculation:

"We need to see what is required to strengthen the team according to Reja's requests. I am very pleased to hear Cisse wants to come to Lazio, it shows we have new international credibility. Are we having a good mercato? We will not know until the new season."

Lotito contradicted himself when discussed the possibility of replacing Stephan Lichtsteiner:

"Lichtsteiner will only be official when he has signed the contract. We will only look for replacements when that is finalised. Cassani? I will speak to Zamparini tomorrow."

Lotito went on to suggest that Fernando Muslera and his agent Daniel Fonseca are to blame for the breakdown in negotiations with Galatasaray:

"We have a great relationship with the Turkish club. It all depends on who wants to leave us."

Lotito went on to quash speculation that Lazio are close to signing West Bromwich Albion defender Gabriel Tamas and Brescia winger Panagiotis Kone, claiming that he knew nothing about these reports.

The Lazio President had a bit to say about the ongoing feud with CONI and kicked of his rant with a killer line:

"I do not battle, I follow my beliefs."

"I have noted the referral. We are building a stronger Lazio against all odds. I am also available to listen to CONI. I am awaiting answers. The injunction? It is not enforceable yet since I have 40 days to appeal it."

There have been reports that city rivals Roma's new owners may jump into the row and stand their ground with Lotito. Hilariously, President Lotito responded with the following:

"I am careful with who I let stand by my side."

Thank goodness he knows nothing about Tamas! Now lets really hope he can do a deal for Cassani and forgets about Konko!
