  08/07/2011: Sampdoria confirm Stankevicius deal but deny Poli and Gastaldello rumours

Speaking to Radio Sei, Pasquale Sensibile, the Director of Sport at Sampdoria confirmed that Lazio are on the verge of securing Marius Stankevicius' signature.

"The question I can confirm today is the Marius Stankevicius rumour but the deal has yet to be concluded."

Transfer discussions between clubs has been taking place today in Milan, with Igli Tare and Claudio Lotito both said to be present. La Lazio Siamo Noi claimed earlier today that Tare was in Milan to finalise a deal for Sampdoria's talented 21-year old midfielder Andrea Poli but Sensibile says that he knows nothing about the rumours:

"Poli? I personally have had no request. I just spoke with Garrone (Sampdoria's President) and he said nothing about Poli."

Sensibile went on to say the case was the same for Daniele Gastaldello:

"Nobody at Lazio has asked for him, like Poli, he will come to pre-season training with us."

La Repubblica say Stankevicius could even have his medical on Monday if the deal is resolved swiftly. They earlier reported that Cisse would fly into Rome for his medical on Monday so a joint presentation could take place and Cittaceleste believe that a medical examination has been scheduled for Monday too, but in Auronzo di Cadore...
