16/07/2011: Auronzo di Cadore: Day Nine
email print
Djibril Cisse had an eventful day. Watchful eyes stalked him from the moment he left the gym in the morning to play a quick game of football tennis with Mauro Zarate. He was not there for long as he was substituted for Marius Stankevicius but soon after, he was back to pose for the cameras with Olimpia at hand and of course, he signed the odd autograph also.

Cisse, who will wear the number 99 next season, is one of the game's more distinguished characters with a reputation that perhaps supercedes his true being. He brings to Lazio an ambition as he tells L'Equipe that he wants to be back in the national setup, pulling on a French jersey at Euro 2012.

It is not all about Cisse. The young guns are proving a point at Auronzo and Cittaceleste caught up with Tommaso Ceccarelli, perhaps the brightest hope in our youth ranks and a player many expect to break into the first team. Tommaso refuses to get carried away but there can be no doubt where he wants to be:

"It is like a dream here, I am good. I feel like I am improving day by day and this is thanks to a united group we have here. I know the competition is great but I will try to carve out a space for myself in the first team. If not, then we will see. I am working as hard as I can to show my worth. This team has established champions, Hernanes is an example, it is awesome to see him play up close."

The players got a rare opportunity to relax in the evening. Card games were a popular choice to unwind with and rumour has it that Zarate and Makinwa made a formidable partnership on this front.
