  20/07/2011: The rebirth of 'Tata'?
email print
Alvaro Gonzalez must surely be giving Edy Reja something to think about after his stellar performances in the Copa America.

The Uruguayan international spent last season in the fringes of the club despite performing well when counted upon. Gonzalez has been one of the key components of Tabarez's Uruguay who have reached the final of the Copa America. One particular highlight was Tata's tireless efforts for 120 minutes where he kept Messi and Tevez at bay in the defeat of Argentina. Gonzalez seems happy in Rome and it would be a shame to sacrifice such a player considering the team will be fighting on 3 fronts next season, as he confirmed to Sky: "I have to thank Lazio that I am living this dream".

Meanwhile after Lazio's 5-1 victory over Luzern, director of Sport Igli Tare spoke to Radio Radio about the new Lazio taking shape and man of the match Mauro Zarate. "The team deserves to be at the top of the Italian game and what we are doing is making a project that should continue to honour the name of the club. Mauro (Zarate) has never been put on the market, but if something importnat comes we will evaluate it. On Floccari there is interest from other clubs, such as Fiorentina".
