Lazio striker Makinwa is edging closer to an exit as his agent confirms things are progressing with Benevento. "The interest is real, we are evaluating the case." Says Fabbri to la Repubblica. "I am very confident, there could be more news on Tuesday. The sale of the player in Italy is feasable since the player could soon get Italian citizenship as he has been a resident for more than 10 years".

Makinwa has spent the last few seasons on loan at various clubs after only scoring 1 goal since his big money transfer from Palermo.

The dream for Lazio's midfield, according to the Corriere dello Sport, is Fiorentina winger Juan Manuel Vargas. Fiorentina are currently in negotiations with Lazio over a deal for Sergio Floccari, which has given the biancoceleste the opportunity to speak to some Viola players.

The main obstacle will be the players valuation of 16-18 million Euros. Vargas, currently in Argentina admitted, "On my future, I don't know anything yet. I know there are calls from major teams, but I will return to Italy and see what happens. For now I am still a player of Fiorentina".

Corriere dello Sport speculate that the purchase of Vargas or Pjanic would have to be funded by the sale of Mauro Zarate.

Meanwhile Cagliari have joined the race to sign Sergio Floccari from Lazio. The Sardinians need a replacement for Alessandro Matri and join Genoa, Fiorentina and Parma in a battle for the Calabrians signature.

Now come on Gio, give the man some credit, Maki has actually scored 3 goals for us - 1-2 Milan in 2006, 4-1 Messina in 2006 and the best of the lot was the winner in the 3-2 against Reggina in 2007!
