28/07/2011: Mauro Zarate: ”I am not leaving Lazio”
email print
Speaking to fans and media after one of the many training sessions taking place at Fiuggi, Zarate once again stated he has no intentions leaving the first team of the capital. According to Sportitalia, Zarate repeatedly assured fans he will remain with Lazio this season.

Atletico Madrid, the team he has been linked to most frequently this summer, is only a step away from finalizing a deal seeing their ace Kun Aguero move to Manchester City in a record breaking €43 million transfer. This leaves the Spaniards with plenty of cash to spend on a replacement, and Zarate meets many of the features the Spanish side is looking for. Also Juventus and Paris Saint Germain have been reported to be interested in the services of the 24-year old.

The fans, literally following every step their favourite player takes, asked over and over again “Are you leaving Lazio?” only to get the uplifting answer of “No, I am staying here. I am not leaving Lazio”. It is up to the reader to decide how much this statement can be trusted, but also the Lazio president commented the issue with an assuring answer: “Zarate and Lazio belong together, and Zarate could stay a part of Lazio for life. But sometimes the path of life changes, and it is not until the 31 August that we will know exactly how the team will look.” Zarate is valued at €25 million, and it is believed Lotito will not go below that for a sale. “If an offer is launched, and everyone involved is happy with a change, we might consider a different path for the club and the player, but he is not transfer listed and remains with Lazio. Zarate is motivated, and with the new signings competition has increased and this will be a great season for Mauro to develop further. He will stay with Lazio.” the patron concluded, before moving away from the microphones.
