Speaking on the occassion of his website being released, Stefano Mauri has outlined Lazio's ambitions for the coming season, a CL qualification spot.

"We are stronger than last year, we are more competitive and naturally are looking towards improving our ranking. I think we can finish third or fourth, but our goal is champions league qualification." said Mauri to Sky Sports 24.

"Only the Milan teams are better than us, we come second with Juventus and Napoli." said Mauri, and when asked about Roma, the midfielder took a dig at the team's second capital.

"We have been better than them the last season, and the numbers and standings speak for themselves. And this year we have improved even more. I know the fans want us to win the derby, and we want to win it too as we understand the importance of the derby. We have to prepare ourselves well for those games as we have to end the losing streak." said Mauri

Then Mauri went on to speak about the Europa League.

"We are not in Europa League to participate only, we are aiming to win. We have two weeks before our debut in Europe, and we need to improve. But we know out strength and despite the fact that we lost the last friendlies, we are confident."

A thought from Mauri went to Cisse and Klose.

"Cisse is a special character, he will give us a big hand because he is a top goal scorer and is already an idol of the fans. Klose is also a great player with many goals in Europe and the national team and brings a lot of experience with him. They just need time to integrate with the rest of the group."

A final thought from Mauri on his future and the future of his team mates, as Mauri was rumoured to leave after a fall out with the fans.

"I have clarified everything with the fans, we need their support and they are the twelfth man on the field. There was an interest from other teams but I spoke with Lotito and he told me that he does not want me to leave Lazio. I am very happy in Rome, I do not see why I should go away. But I know some other team mates who will be leaving, we are a large squad and I understand Reja will have difficulties applying technical schemes with such a big group."
