Javier Garrido, born in Irun - Spain, is excited at the prospect of playing tonight's game against his Real Sociedad.
Garrido went through the youth-ranks of the Basque team, and made his debut in 2004 in Real Sociedad's first team.
But in 2007 Garrido left his Real Sociedad for Manchester City, after Sociedad's relegation.
Three years later Javier found a new challenge by joining Lazio.
Spanish sportspaper 'Marca' spoke to Garrido about the Real Sociedad game, his past there and his future at Lazio.
Marca : How are things in Rome Javi' Garrido?
JG : Well the truth is that it is going great, because I haven't missed a single day of the preseason, which for some may be nothing, but it's very important to me, after I had physical problems last season.
Also, I've played in some friendlies and I think things have gone well, so I'm very excited.
Marca : So you will play against Real Sociedad?
JG : I would love it. I've never played against a former team and it would be special against the Real, the club where I became a footballer.
In addition, it's our team presentation, so there will be a great atmosphere on the field.
I would be very happy to have the opportunity to play tonight.
Marca : So you hope to score against Xabi Prieto, your former teammate and friend?
JG : I know Xabi from Real's youth teams and first team and you could already see he would become a great player.
Clearly it will be difficult to stop him, but I like the challenge.
Marca : Have you had the opportunity to meet one of your former teammates here in Rome?
JG : I haven't, because they have their focus and we have ours for this game.
Before the game I will try to catch up with some players, and maybe after the game I'll join them in their hotel in Rome.
Marca : Last month some spoke of your possible return to Real Sociedad. Was this true ?
JG : I think there hasn't been a single phone call from Real Sociedad to me or my representative.
It's a difficult issue. I have signed for four years at Lazio, and have an excellent contract. And Sociedad renewed De Belle's contract, and bought the Frenchman Cadamuro to strengthen their defence.
Marca : And what about joining Getafe?
JG : Getafe was showing some interest, but till today I know nothing.
I'm playing now at Lazio, but now we are with 33 players, so maybe someone has to leave.
I do not rule anything. I left Sociedad for Manchester City almost the very last minute and I joined Lazio in a similar way.
Now I am a Laziale, but this can change in a few days.
