Stefano Mauri once again took the captain's armband in the abscence of Tommaso Rocchi in the starting 11 and had an impressive game, finishing with a goal and assist. In addition, he had a perfectly good goal disallowed in first half because of an offside.
Talking to his official blog, Mauri seemed happy with the start of the new season, "We practicaly sealed the qualification before the second leg, while I scored a goal and assisted another. I can't complain about the performance". Also, the vice-captain got a warm reception from fans at the Curva Nord, "I want to thank the fans. I'm really happy to be playing at the Olimpico again in front of twenty-thousand fans."
In the end, Mauri added, "I want to thank and dedicate the goal to my family, who are always helpful and nice to me".
