22/08/2011: Zarate closer to staying, Wolfsburg inquire on Floccari

As the market is coming to a close, Lazio are still trying to offload a striker and as the rumours intensify around Zarate, it still does not seem that the Argentine striker is going to leave the club.

Speaking to Violanews.com, Lazio Sporting Director Igle Tare denied any negotiations with Fiorentina whom reports have claimed that the player is wanted at Viola but on loan.

"We are running out of time concerning the case of Zarate," a statement that finally shows that Lazio are somehow very open to the idea of offloading the player, "but we have not discussed sending the player to Fiorentina."

On the other hand, Zarate's agent denied any offer from Arsenal. With all possible interested clubs seemingly far from any deal, it is more likely that the Argentine will be staying at Lazio for at least until the January market.

While this might please many of the biancoceleste fans, what is ironic is that Zarate's stay is hardly due to the club's insistence on keeping him, but rather due to the lack of suitable offers.

On the other hand interest around Floccari is still intensifying with now Wolfsburg inquiring about the player according to SportItalia. It was reported earlier that Lille were also interested in the striker.
