Lazio sporting director Igli Tare told the disappointed fans that Mauro Zarate did everything to force a move to Inter but also added that he is sad to see the player leave the club.

Tare told Corriere dello Sport, "I understand the anger of Lazio fans, because i've worked with Zarate for three years and I'm also sad to see him go. There are feelings, relationships, but unfortunately, it's not a part of football business. I accept the fact that supporters feel betrayed, but the most important thing is to make decisions that are good for the club, because Lazio is the thing that people love the most".

Tare has also backed Reja's words that Zarate violated rules inside the team, "The club makes decisions together with the coach, but they're not against any specific players. The relationship between the club and players has never been negative, but there are rules at the club and they must be respected. When, for example, Zarate arrives at the training camp overweight, it goes against the rules". Tare then continued, "Zarate did everything to go. Keeping players against their wish is not good, but I'm pleased that players like Radu or Ledesma stayed despite interest from other clubs".

Finally, the sporting director told about objectives for the upcoming season, "We want to do better than last season, but it won't be easy as all big teams have improved their squads over the summer. We bought players, who are great personalities and have plenty of experience. The high number of players in the squad will not be a problem because the season is long and eventful, so I think that everyone will get some playing time".
