05/09/2011: Klose and Hernanes ready for the new season
email print
The next challenge is up for Edy Reja. In an year and seven months he has achieved much – saving Lazio from relegation and reaching Europe League. He has also failed in an important front for some people – 4 derby loses and qualification for Champions League.

Now Reja is under huge pressure as the opening game will be against the current champions Milan at their ground. “The game will be more complicated, than we want” – says Stefano Mauri. The coach is now trembling, cause he knows only a good result and a good display of his players will silence his critics, which have awaken after the transfer of Mauro Zarate in the last day of the mercato. The “Zarate effect” shows itself on the season ticket sales as it has been on a halt for several days on the 18,500 number and it is now closed for the Europe League.

On radios and forums the debate on Zarate continues. But now the question is who is going to take the number 10 shirt. For the Europe League it will stay vacant as the club has no right to change the numbers subscribed in UEFA. The question is who is going to wear it in the Seria A. The fans’ voice is Hernanes must take it (but he’s fine with the number 8) and Cisse. From the locker room arrives another candidate – Klose. The Brazilian, the French and the German – the three wild cards, the three winning cards which may save Reja and make people forget Zarate quickly. The Prophet is ready: “ I want to improve” he is quoted by repubblica.it. And Lazio want him to become the new idol of the fans. That is why Lazio refused a 20 million offer from Arsenal. Lotito will sell for 40. As for Hernanes he set his goal to overcome the myth Nedved. “This year I want to score more than 12 goals” – he states.

Milan have bad memories from Cisse. The French striker took part in the famous Champions League final on 25.05.2005 in Turkey, when Liverpool overcame a 3:0 result to come back and beat Milan by penalties. Now Cisse prepares for a debut in Seria A and has some tricks for Galliani. He will start wide left on a 4-2-3-1 system. The attack will be led from Klose who is in a perfect condition, as he said it himself (scored a goal and made two assists against Austria). The Panzer is a vice-top goal scorer to Huntelaar and the mark of 10 goals in the Euro 2012 qualification round. Tomorrow night he will have the chance to overcome this peak against Poland (his home country).

Klose’s mind is already set on Milan: “This game will make us understand where we can get, but I’m optimistic”. The German will come back from international duty Wednesday, so will Lulic, and both will train Thursday at Formello with the main group. Only one training in the eve of the important first game. Already back from games with their national teams are Gonzalez (who scored a goal against Ukraine) and Cana. Radu is back from Romania as he has a knee problem. The situation with him is improving but he is in doubt even for the game against Vaslui. Yesterday Sculli, Stankevicius and Stendardo returned to train with the main group. A severe clash between Diakite and Kozak saw the Czech visiting the Paideia clinic with shoulder pain.
