08/09/2011: The year 2000, Lazio finishes greatest season in style.

 Today, eleven years ago, S.S. Lazio finished off a season in great style and play.
The summer of 2000 was over, and in Rome the celebrations were almost over, after winning the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia.
But there was still one price in play, the Italian Supercup. So on September the 8th, Lazio met Inter again.
As Inter lost the Coppa Italia final against Lazio, they were invited at the Olimpico to play against an almost 'unbeatable' Lazio.
But the Olimpico shook as Inter took the lead after 2 minutes, a goal by new signing Robbie Keane.
But after the half hour, Lazio scored the equalizer and took even the lead before half-time.
Lazio's new Argentinian signing, Claudio Lopez, made the Olimpico jump in joy, paying off with his first two goals in a skyblue shirt.
After the break a Mihajlovic penalty took Lazio to a 3-1 lead, but Farinos closed down the gap by scoring the 3-2.
Fifteen minutes from time, Dejan Stankovic beat Inter goalie Ballotta, marking the 4-2 score.
But a minute later Vampeta scored Inter's 3rd goal of the night.
The 60.000 in the Olimpico saw a thrilling finale, with Inter scoring almost the 4-4, with one man down.
But after the final whistle, Lazio could celebrate the 'Centenary' with an historic 'treble'.
And this also the 7th trophy for the era Cragnotti-Eriksson. The end of an 'golden' era for S.S. Lazio.
