02/10/2011: German media: Reja owes his job to Klose
email print
"That Reja is still in office is probably owed to Miroslav Klose"; the German media have had no problem identifying who they think has shone in Lazio's current campaign.

To back up their opinion, they have been focusing on quotes from the Italian newspapers:

"Klose is from another planet. He does not run, he flies. He carries Lazio on his shoulders. His presence raises the level of an otherwise mediocre team." - Corriere dello Sport

"Klose is a man from Mars. He is a top defender, midfielder and striker." - Gazzetta dello Sport

"Klose is unique" - Tuttosport

The German media highlighted his role in Lazio's loss to Sporting Lisbon on Thursday, indicating that Lazio were put in a great position to win the game by Klose only for Edy Reja to go defensive and cost Lazio the points. They commented on Reja and Lotito's decision to blame the referee, stating that this was unfair criticism and that the loss can be attributed to poor tactical moves from Reja.

Also featuring in the German media recently was Eyal Golasa, the player who infamously broke his contract in January 2010 to join Lazio only to find himself back at Maccabi Haifa in a matter of hours. He was the focus of attention as his side took on Schalke 04 in European competition. Understandably, he was asked what really happened at Lazio given the German public's new found interest in the Romans and Klose. Golasa was vague in his response to the questioning:

"What happened, happened. I was very young and acted having been influenced by people who paid no attention to what was best for me. I feel ready to go to Europe now but at present, my club is Maccabi Haifa.
