06/10/2011: Ruben Sosa: "Ready to return"
email print
Ruben Sosa, a former Uruguay international, spent four years at Lazio from 1988-2002 and is remembered for his intensity and determination. In 2002 he was sold to Inter and went on to play for a host of other clubs.

Sosa told Radio Sport Mana Mana, "In January I will be in Italy. I'd love to work with the Lazio youth". Sosa has been working at the football school in Montevideo and training young players has always been his dream. "We currently have more than 500 children. I work mostly with the strikers, I like to teach them the tricks of the trade".

Sosa then told of his time at Lazio where he formed a strike partnership with Paolo Di Canio, "Lazio was the most important team of my career, one that still bears in my heart. I also played for Inter but Lazio is another thing. All you (the fans) have always supported me, that I will never forget. I have always given everything, I was a fan on the field. I would have liked to stay but unfortunately that was not possible".

On Di Canio, "Paolo was a South American, as he played like us, fun football, exciting and wonderful to see. He suffered alot during the Derby, however I also did not live them very well. I always wanted to win, in every way".

Sosa would like to work with Lazio and at Formello has always been his goal, "It would be great, learning new methods to bring my experience, I'd love to stay a month at Formello".

Finally Sosa gave his impression on the current squad and what they can aim for, "I think they can fight for the championship. It is clear that Inter, Milan and Juventus are stronger but Lazio can do well and have the players to win something important".

Finally a prediction for the Derby, "Lazio to win 1-0!"
