26/10/2011: Injury update: Mauri still struggling with fitness

With Lazio playing in both Serie A and the Europa League this season it has been hard for Edy Reja to have a fully rested squad when he select his squad. Against Catania it was very noticable that certain key players were missing from the lineup. Reja might have another injury to worry about when centreback Giuseppe Biava was forced to go out in the first half with a injury. Lazio now have three matches to play before the international break that just can not seem to come soon enough for Edy Reja & Lazio.

Giuseppe Biava was taken off in the 43 minute against Catania. Biava suffered a strain in his right thigh. Biava will do some more tests tomorrow but he is currently expected to be out of action for three weeks and will be back after the international break when Lazio travel to Napoli.

The brazilian Hernanes got injured in the match versus Bologna but was able to play in the second half versus Catania. Hernanes did not feel any pain after the match, and Edy Reja will be glad to have him available for selection against Cagliari.

Two other players that will most likely be ready earliest against Napoli is Alvaro Gonzalez and Matuzalem.

The worst news is that Stefano Mauri looks to have a more complicated road to recovery. The midfielder is reported to have a Grade III injury to his knee. It looks like Mauri will be out for two or three more months and will not return to action until after the christmas break.
